<br />Subd. 149 Public use. The use of any lot, parcel of land and any structure or building
<br />thereon exclusively for public purposes by any department or branch of government,
<br />federal, state, county or city, excluding independent school districts, without reference to
<br />the ownership of said lot, parcel of land, building or structure.
<br />Subd. 150 Public waters. Means a body of water capable of substantial beneficial public
<br />use. This shall be construed to mean, for the purposes of these regulations, any body of
<br />water, which has the potential to support any type of recreational pursuit or water supply
<br />purpose. A body of water created by a private user where there was no previous
<br />shoreland, as defined herein, for a designated private use authorized by the commissioner
<br />of natural resources, shall be exempt.
<br />Subd. 151 Railroad right-of-way. A strip of land with tracks and auxiliary facilities for
<br />track operation, but not including depots, loading platforms, station, train sheds,
<br />warehouses, car shops, car yards, locomotive shops or water towers.
<br />Subd.152 Reach. A hydraulic engineering term to describe a longitudinal segment of a
<br />stream or river influenced by a natural or mart -made obstruction. In an urban area, the
<br />segment of a stream or river between two consecutive bridge crossings would most
<br />typically constitute a reach.
<br />Subd. 153 Recreation, commercial. Recreational facilities which are operated for profit
<br />or render a service which is customarily considered as a business.
<br />Subd.154 Recreation, residential. Play apparatus such as swing sets and slides,
<br />sandboxes, poles for nets, picnic tables, lawn chairs, barbecue stands, and similar
<br />equipment or structures, when used on residential property, but not including electronic
<br />towers, tree houses, swimming pools, playhouses exceeding twenty-five (25) square feet
<br />of floor area, or sheds utilized for storage of equipment.
<br />Subd. 155 Recreational vehicles (RVs). Vehicles for recreational or utilitarian uses that
<br />can be driven, towed, or hauled. Including, but not limited to, motor homes and travel
<br />trailers, snowmobiles, pull campers, all terrain vehicles (ATVs), tent trailers, or other
<br />similar vehicles. (Revised 02107108)
<br />Subd. 156 Recreational vehicles (for the purposes of Section 1335 only). A vehicle that
<br />is built on a single chassis, is 400 square feet or less when measured at the largest
<br />horizontal projection, is designed to be self-propelled or permanently towable by a light
<br />duty track, and is designed primarily not for use as a permanent dwelling but as
<br />temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel, or seasonal use. For the
<br />purposes of Section 1335, the term recreational vehicle shall be synonymous with the
<br />term travel trailer/travel vehicle. (Added 05105110)
<br />Subd. 157 Recreational Vehicles, Utility Trailers, Riding Lawn Mowers, and Watercraft
<br />Height. The distance as measured from the ground to the highest point of the recreational
<br />vehicle, utility trailer, or watercraft, including any covering, as stored. This does not
