Staff recornmends approval of Smiths Medical's request to madify the Conditional Use Permit
review procedure and allow thern to proceed with enclosing a 500 square oot entryway with
glass through the building permit and administrative review process. Although #his is a rarely
used provision in ihe Zoning Code, the insignicant nature of the proposed exterior
modificanons and the lack of impact on surrounding properties is a unique circumstance #hat
may warrant the request. If tlis request is approved it would apply only in this very specific
czrcurristance.
O tions
1. Apprave the proposat as submitted.
2. Approve the proposal with condiiions.
3. Deny the application with reasons for denial. If ihe City deni.es the petitaoners request, ".. . it
must state in writing the reasons far the denial at the tire it denies the request."
4. Table for additional in#'ormation.
Deadline for Agency Actians
The City of Arden Hills received the completed application far this request on August 18, 2008.
Pursuant to Minnesota Sate tatute, the City must act on this request by October 17, 2008 (60
days), unless the City provides the petiiioner with writien reasons far an addiiiona160 day review
period. The City may with the petitioners' consent extend the review period beyond the 120
days.
Atachments
A— Applicatian and Supporting Materials
B— Map and photographs of the site
IlMerro-inet.uslardenhillslPlanninglAlanning Cases12008408-023 Smith Medica11082508 - CC Report - Srnith Metlical.doc
Page 3 of 3
