,-ARQEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: February 22, 2011 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers Planning Commission FROM: Meagan Beekman, City Planner \P, SUBJECT: 2011 Goals and Work Plan Requested Action Discuss possible goals and project priorities for 2011, and produce a list of items to develop into a work plan. Background The City Council will be meeting in March to discuss the 2011 goals and priorities. This discussion will include projects that they would like each of the City's commissions and committees to accomplish for the year. To assist in their discussion, Staff would like the Planning Commission to provide input to the City Council on a brief list and description of projects that they see as important and would like to complete in 2011. The Council will use the recommendations from the various committees and commissions in order to prioritize projects _ and determine budgeting and time allocation for the projects that they would like to see accomplished in the coming year. While the Council will make the final determination as to what the goals and priorities are for the upcoming year, it may be useful for them to have a discussion with the Commissioners about these items. Discussion The Planning Commission differs from the City's other committees and commissions in that the purpose and scope of the Commission's work is largely determined by State Statute.
