--�AjTEN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: April 19, 2011 <br /> TO: Parks Trails and Recreation Committee <br /> FROM: Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Park Bench Location Discussion <br /> Background <br /> The park bench implementation program was approved in 2010 by the City Council. This <br /> implementation program is on a four year cycle. The CIP includes $5,000 each year for the <br /> years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. We are in year two of the cycle. At the March 21, 2011 joint <br /> PTRC/City Council meeting, the park bench implementation program was discussed. The City <br /> Council would like the PTRC to recommend locations for the benches before they are installed. <br /> The PTRC indicated that they felt it was best to wait until after the park tour in June to <br /> recommend placement. At their April 11, 2011 meeting, the City Council authorized the <br /> purchase of eight benches. However, they indicated that they would like the PTRC to choose <br /> locations as soon as possible so that the benches will be able to be used throughout the entire <br /> spring/summer. Staff has included a bench location map for review that includes where <br /> existing benches are; Ramsey County proposed locations and potential future locations for future <br /> benches. These locations can be changed or alternate locations can be added by the committee. <br /> Staff provided potential locations only for discussion purposes. <br /> Requested Action <br /> Staff is asking for the PTRC to review potential locations for eight park benches and recommend <br /> placement in order for staff to proceed with installation. <br /> 04192011 Bench Implementation Process.doc <br />
