� <br />EN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: Apri125, 2011 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br />FROM: Kristine Giga, Civil Engineer � <br />SUBJECT: Awarding Bid for #he Indian Oaks Court Pond Shorelxne Restoration and <br />Landscaping Project <br />Back�round/ Discussion <br />At the Noveznber 15, 2010 Council work session, City staff presented and discussed the Indian <br />Oaks Court storm waier pand ma'rntenance project. The City Council directed staff to proceed <br />with the proposed project. The proposed pond maintenance is being completed in three phases, <br />each with separate construction cantracts: dredging pond sediments, shoreline resiaration and <br />landscaping, and replacenr�ent of the pond's outlet pipe. The pond exca�ation was cornpleted by <br />Belair Excavating in February, 2011. <br />Quotes were solicited in April from four contractors recommended by the Rams�y Canservatzon <br />Districi for the second phase of the project, the shoreline xestoration and landscaping. Four <br />quotes were received on April 19, 2011. Based on tl�e quotes received, staff recomx�nends <br />awarding the praject. <br />Based on past practice, the City Council has awarded the contract fa the lowest responsibl� <br />bidder. In the case af the Indian Oaks Court Pond Shoreline Restoration and Landscaping <br />Project, the lowest responsible bid�er is Natural Shore Techno�ogies, Inc. of Maple Plain, <br />Minnesata. <br />Financial Ymplications <br />The City received four quotes for the projeci. The lowest quote submitted by Natural �hore <br />Technologies, Inc. af $14,037.20, is significantly less than �he amaunt estirnated, $22,000, for <br />this phase of the praject.
