_PILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: July 18, 2011 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br />FROM: Sue Iverson, Director of Finance and Administrative Services <br />fi <br />SUBJECT: One -Year Performance Review for Patrick Klaers <br />Background <br />Pat's review was originally schedule for June 27, 2011 after the regular City Council <br />meeting. Due to the length of that meeting and the time, it was decided to reschedule the <br />performance review. It was then reschedule for July 11th after the regular City Council <br />meeting but unfortunately that was also a late meeting and it was again decided to <br />postpone the review. We have now scheduled the review for 5:00 p.m. before the regular <br />City Council Worksession on July 18, 2011. <br />Current Discussion <br />Pat's performance review will be held with the City Council in a closed session after the <br />regular business is conducted at the July 11, 2011 City Council meeting. I have complied <br />all the answers received into one report for the Council to review and discuss with Pat. <br />You received this information in a separate packet with your materials for the June 27, <br />2011 Council Meeting. Please remember to bring this with to the meeting on Monday, <br />July 11th. <br />Again, there are a few items I would like to stress as you read the responses and conduct <br />the performance review. We are a "contract city" with a very small staff, this means that <br />projects need to be prioritized due to the limited amount of staff time we have available <br />after we complete our day -to -day responsibilities. We also have a good number of staff <br />who are still new to their positions means there is a "learning curve" we need to take into <br />account that we have to train them as they have not yet been through an entire budget or <br />financial cycle at Arden Hills.
