Our meeting was cut short because of tornado warnings. Maybe the
tornado weather was fortuitous. Several of you expressed interest in participating in our
Yellow Ribbon efforts but were unable to attend the meeting because of conflicts.
We are planning a second meeting to establish a regional Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Community.
Please attend the meeting and help us get the word out to your colleagues, faith communities,
businesses, veterans groups, appointed and elected officials including your school boards and
anyone else you think would have an interest in joining the effort.
Thursday, June 2
7:00 p.m.
Roseville Skating Center
2661 Civic Center Drive
For your convenience I have included a press briefing for you to send to your local media.
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Effort Needs You
Please join the Minnesota National Guard, the City of Roseville and our neighboring
communities to build a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Community.
Join us on Thursday, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the Fireside Room in the Roseville Skating
Center, 2661 Civic Center Drive, for the second organizing meeting of the Beyond the Yellow
Ribbon Community Program. The first meeting was cut short because of threatening weather.
This meeting will continue the previous discussion. Everyone is welcome, whether you attended
the first meeting or not.
The Minnesota National Guard pioneered the program in hopes of changing how Servicemembers
reintegrate back to their communities.
Through this program, we will create awareness and connect Servicemembers and their families
with community support, training, services and resources. Services can range from the simple
- mowing a lawn or tutoring a child to the more complex - helping a family member apply for
benefits or find a job. Log on to www.BeyondTheYellowRibbon.org for information about types
of support you could offer. Whether you can help on a one-time project or volunteer
regularly, we need your help.
1
