PTRC StrategW for Padre and TSrar'ls <br /> Page 2 <br /> 2. Perry Park tiall down to lift station road. <br /> This trail connection will link Perry Park to the Tony Schmidt Railroad underpass. The City <br /> will apply fOr a DNR Local Connection Grant for this trail segment. The grant has a 50016 <br /> match up to$100,000. The total estimated cost is$38,500. <br /> 3. West side of Old Snelling fi`om Highway 51 on the south to County Road E on the north. <br /> This portion of highway is tenifively scheduled for improvement during 2010.Building the <br /> proposed trail as part of that project has obvious advantages. This#rail segment is a key link <br /> in the major n>onth sotith arterial through the city which will eventually connect the existing <br /> Arden Hills with the new TCAAP development. This trail may be eligible four municipal <br /> state-aid finding. In the future, this trail could be extended to Lydia along the west side of <br /> Highway 51.- <br /> 4. Sour side of County road E from Old Snelling to Connelly <br /> This very important tttail links the eastern and western portions of the City,connects two <br /> existing parks,provides aecess to busidesses for people living west of Hwy. 51 and is an <br /> iropor=part of a longer east-vest arterial traversing the city from west to east. <br /> 5.- -Last side of Old Snelling from County Road E to Highway 96 <br /> This is a con#inuation of trail segment 3 and would include reworking of the railroad <br /> unddpam north of Lindey's as well-as some form of grade separation when the Highway 10 <br /> and 96 intersection is reconstructed.. This segment is crucial to improved circulation <br /> between the misting and new portions of Arden Hills. <br /> 6. North-side of Lake Johanna Boulevard from County Road E on the west to Old Snelling on <br /> --the east. <br /> DevekT meat of this traiil segment would complete the southern east west arterial through the <br /> city. It is heavily used now—year round—by residents,as well as students from Bethel and <br /> Northwestem Colleges mud Mounds View High SchooL That-uw is likely to increase with <br /> the growing popularity of Tony Schmidt Park and the Cou nty's completion of the trail link <br /> under the railroad(Segment 1). Ramsey County has rmpested that the Metropolitan Council <br /> designate Tony Schmidt as a regional park which will finther increase its visitor use. As a <br /> result,Arden Hills may be eligible for regional park fiords to improve this trail and provide <br /> safe access to the pork. <br /> 7. Traffic signals at County Road E and Old Snelling <br /> This intersection becomes a major connector in the arterial trails system and trails approach <br /> and leave the intersection from diff not sides of the street.. For am reason,and because of <br /> L the increasing volume of traffic using the mter°section,traffic signals are needed. <br />
