'It <br /> EN HILLS <br /> DRAFT <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> TUESDAY,MARCH 20,2012 <br /> ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> Chair Garretson called the March 20, 2012,meeting of the Parks, Trails, and Recreation Committee <br /> to order at 6:36 p.m. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Garretson, Committee Members Nancy O'Malley, Harold <br /> Peterson, John Peck. <br /> Committee Member Chuck Michaelson arrived at 7:05 p.m. <br /> OTHERS PRESENT: Park and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson, Council Liaison Brenda <br /> Holden and Prospective Committee Member Jane Larson. <br /> ABSENT: Committee Members Phil Kramlinger, Don Messerly, Steve Scott, and Rich Straumann. <br /> 1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> MOTION: Committee Member O'Malley motioned to approve the agenda as presented seconded <br /> by Committee Member Peck. The motion carried unanimously(5-0). <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—December20,2011 <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Peck motioned to approve the January 10, 2012, minutes, <br /> seconded by Committee Member Michaelson. The motion carried unanimously <br /> (5-0). <br /> 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> A. Joint Meeting Debrief <br /> Chair Garretson indicated she felt the joint meeting went well and that there was good <br /> participation. <br /> Council Liaison Holden informed the committee that the engineering firm URS talked to the <br /> Canadian Pacific Railroad about replacing the railroad trestle over New Brighton Road since it <br /> was in bad shape. She indicated the railroad informed URS that they did not plan on replacing <br /> the trestle any time soon and that no one has approached the railroad about a possible trail. <br /> Committee Member Peck suggested the PTRC contact the railroad about adding a trail on the <br /> east side. Ms. Olson asked if Council Liaison Holden was in favor of having staff approach <br /> the railroad. Ms. Holden indicated this was entirely up to the committee. Committee Member <br /> Peck asked Ms. Olson to forward the contact information and maybe one of the committee <br /> members would volunteer to contact the railroad regarding the trail. <br />
