Capital Improvement Plan 2013 thru 2017
City of Arden Hills, Minnesota
Project#
12-Park-003
Project Name Old Snelling Avenue Trail-Legacy
Type Improvement Department Parks Department
Useful Life Contact Park&Recreation Mgr
Category Park Capital Improvements Priority n/a
Description Total Project Cost: $975,258
The City applied for a portion of funding from the State Legacy Grant for segments I and I2 from County Road E2 to Lake Johanna Boulevard
(which connects to and from the CP Rail bridge pathway). The CP Rail Bridge improvements were completed in 2011. The estimated linear
footage is 3,060 feet or.58 miles.
Justification
The PTRC has identified the enire corridor on Snelling Avenue in it's 2006 Strategies and 2030 Comp Plan as a priority. It is identified as a key
north-south regional connection. This proposed trail is only segments I1 and I2. The Legacy Grant Program restrictions changed after the City
applied, causing the project to NOT be eligible. This project may need to be delayed until alternative funding is found.
Expenditures 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Total
Planning/Design 150,040 150,040
Construction/Maintenance 825,218 825,218
Total 975,258 975,258
Funding Sources 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Total
Capital Improvement Funds(PI 475,258 475,258
Grant Revenue 500,000 500,000
Total 975,258 975,258
Budget Impact/Other
Annual maintenance for the proposed trail is estimated at approximately$2.00 per linear foot at 3,060 feet.
