ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION—JULY 9, 2012 4 <br /> Councilmember Holmes stated that the Glenview area has had a lot of water main breaks, and <br /> she questions if the water mains are bad, can a road be repaired by reclamation versus a <br /> reconstruction. <br /> Public Works Director Maurer indicated that it is a little more work, but the repair can be made <br /> to the water main pipes and then the street can be reclaimed. <br /> Mayor Grant inquired how expensive a water main break is to repair. <br /> Public Works Director Maurer stated that water main breaks are not that expensive to repair <br /> relative to reconstructing the road. He would be happy to do a little research on water main <br /> breaks and make recommendations for a program based on the findings. <br /> Discussion continued regarding a curb and gutter policy. <br /> 3. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND STAFF UPDATES <br /> Councilmember Holmes stated that she has received an email from Dan Flaherty stating that the <br /> preamble under the public inquiries portion of the agenda is ambiguous. Since there was some <br /> confusion at a previous meeting regarding when the public could speak, she thought maybe that <br /> should be discussed. <br /> Councilmember Holmes commented on the fact that the County Road E project may be pushed <br /> back. In light of not knowing when Country Road E will be totally fixed, perhaps an inexpensive <br /> facelift could be considered for the interim. <br /> Mayor Grant inquired about the B-2 meetings. <br /> City Administrator Klaers stated that they are in the planning stages. The consultants are <br /> meeting one-on-one with the business owners, and he reports that Phase I is on schedule. <br /> Discussion ensued and the Council expressed concern over the direction the B2 project was going. <br /> The City Administrator stated that a project status report will be given at an upcoming meeting. <br /> Councilmember Holmes questioned whether an adequate response was given to Daniel Kromm <br /> about the Arden View Drive water damage issue. <br /> City Administrator Klaers stated that staff's response is that the League of Minnesota Cities <br /> (LMC), as our insurance provider, is the deciding factor with this claim. <br /> Director of Finance and Administrative Services Iverson noted that she will respond to Mr. <br /> Kromm and will supply him with the name of the insurance adjustor. <br /> Councilmember Holmes inquired what kind of role the Council should be taking regarding <br /> reviewing the City's Personnel Policy. She said that the Council has reviewed staff pay, but she <br /> does not know much in regard to cell phones, computers, or the comp time policy. <br />
