Ramsey County Sheriff Page 1 of 2 <br /> RA SEY COUNTY <br /> About the Sheriff's Office <br /> The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office is Minnesota's first law <br /> enforcement agency, established in 1849 when Minnesota was a <br /> territory. Sheriff Matt Bostrom, elected in 2010, leads the <br /> Ramsey County Sheriff's Office. <br /> The Sheriff's Office has over 500 members - including full-time, <br /> part-time, temporary employees, and active volunteers. With <br /> an annual operating budget of approximately $45 million dollars, <br /> the Sheriff's Office provides a wide-ranging variety of law <br /> enforcement and public safety services to an urban community <br /> of over 500,000 residents situated in a metropolitan area of over <br /> 2.5 million people. In addition, as a regional partner, the <br /> Sheriff's Office provides services to city, county, state, and <br /> federal agencies. The Division Overview highlights the many <br /> services provided by the Sheriff's Office. <br /> In 2011, the Sheriff's Office was reorganized to focus on core <br /> functions prescribed by state statute. In addition, the Sheriff's <br /> Office: <br /> . Adopted the goal to transform into a regional leader in <br /> public safety <br /> • Processed 24,351 warrants <br /> Responded to 22,912 calls for service as well as assigned <br /> 611 felony level cases to the General Investigations Unit <br /> for follow-up in the cities which police services are <br /> provided <br /> • Booked 21,439 arrestees into the Ramsey County jail, <br /> safely housing an average daily population of 357 inmates <br /> • Provided court security for 24,612 in-custody court <br /> hearings and transported 5,122 in-custody inmates to and <br /> from the Law Enforcement Center to the Courthouse <br /> • Updated a department-wide policy manual which is <br /> comprehensive and reflective of national and local best <br /> practices <br /> • Provided 150 crime prevention community education <br /> opportunities to community members and groups <br /> Engaged in a number of collaborative initiatives with <br /> public safety partners <br /> • Served 12,682 legal papers <br /> • Conducted 2,084 mortgage foreclosure sales <br /> • Reestablished an annual employee performance review <br /> process which focus on employee strengths and <br /> community involvement <br /> • Established strategic management of information and <br /> technology <br /> Members of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office take great pride <br /> http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/sheriff/about/index.htm 8/13/2012 <br />
