Anderson, Assistant City Engineer <br /> SUBJECT: 2013 PMP Consultant Survey Services <br /> Background <br /> The City of Arden Hills initiated the public improvement process for the 2013 Pavement <br /> Management Program on August 13, 2012, when the City Council ordered preparation of the <br /> Feasibility Study. As part of the study, information is collected about the physical features in <br /> the area. <br /> Discussion <br /> Three quotations were solicited from consulting firms that have previously provided the City <br /> with similar services. The three firms include: Bolton & Menk, Inc.; E.G. Rud and Sons; <br /> and Elfering & Associates (these are the same three that provided quotes for the Old Snelling <br /> Avenue survey a couple of years ago). A general description of the work and expected <br /> schedule was provided for the firms to review and respond to with a proposal. Three <br /> proposals were submitted and each describes generally the same scope of work as requested. <br /> The proposals included completion schedules as requested, as well as the costs associated <br /> with the work. <br /> Financial Implications <br /> The financial results of the request for proposals are as follows: <br /> Elfering & Associates $14,290 <br /> E.G. Rud and Sons $22,500 <br /> Bolton & Menk, Inc. $46,145 <br /> Some of the proposals had a breakdown of costs and listed portions of the work separately. <br /> The results listed above include the sum of all work included in the proposals. <br /> Council Action Requested <br /> Authorize City staff to contract with Elfering & Associates to provide consulting survey <br /> services for the 2013 PMP, as detailed in their proposal, for the amount of$14,290. <br /> P:\PR&PW\Numbered Projects\PW-12-01 1 1 2013 PMP\01 feasibility\8-27-12 memo survey services.doc <br /> Page I of 1 <br />
