ARDEN HILLS REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> October 27, 2005 2 <br /> 6. NEW BUSINESS <br /> 6.A. Approve the Appointment of Karen Barton as Director of Community Development of the <br /> City of Arden Hills: <br /> Assistant to the City Administrator Schawn Johnson provided the City Council <br /> with an overview of the recruitment process. After completing the interview <br /> process, City staff recommends the appointment of Karen Barton as the City's new <br /> Director of Community Development. Ms. Barton has a Bachelor's Degree from <br /> the University of Minnesota in Housing and Community Development. She was <br /> recently employed by the City of Gresham, Oregon, as the City's Economic <br /> Development Manager. Ms. Barton also has worked for Anoka County, Hennepin <br /> County, City of Crystal, and the City of Brooklyn Center in community <br /> development related functions. Ms. Barton has also owned her own personnel <br /> staffing company. <br /> City staff is requesting City Council approval of the appointment of Karen Barton <br /> as the City of Arden Hills Director of Community Development. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember Grant moved and Councilmember Holden <br /> seconded a motion to approve the appointment of Karen Barton as the City's <br /> Director of Community Development. The motion carried unanimously(3-0). <br /> 6.B. Motion to approve Health Insurance Policy Changes for Non-Unions City Staff Members: <br /> City Administrator Michelle Wolfe and Assistant to the City Administrator Schawn <br /> Johnson provided the City Council with an overview of the proposed changes to the health <br /> insurance policy for non-union City staff members. City Administrator Michelle Wolfe <br /> stated that department heads have met with non-union city staff members to discuss the <br /> proposed changes to the health insurance plan. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Grant <br /> seconded a motion to approve the changes to the City's health insurance policy for <br /> 2006. The motion carried unanimously(3-0). <br /> 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> None <br /> CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> None <br />
