ARDEN HILLS REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES October 27, 2005 2 6. NEW BUSINESS 6.A. Approve the Appointment of Karen Barton as Director of Community Development of the City of Arden Hills: Assistant to the City Administrator Schawn Johnson provided the City Council with an overview of the recruitment process. After completing the interview process, City staff recommends the appointment of Karen Barton as the City's new Director of Community Development. Ms. Barton has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota in Housing and Community Development. She was recently employed by the City of Gresham, Oregon, as the City's Economic Development Manager. Ms. Barton also has worked for Anoka County, Hennepin County, City of Crystal, and the City of Brooklyn Center in community development related functions. Ms. Barton has also owned her own personnel staffing company. City staff is requesting City Council approval of the appointment of Karen Barton as the City of Arden Hills Director of Community Development. MOTION: Councilmember Grant moved and Councilmember Holden seconded a motion to approve the appointment of Karen Barton as the City's Director of Community Development. The motion carried unanimously(3-0). 6.B. Motion to approve Health Insurance Policy Changes for Non-Unions City Staff Members: City Administrator Michelle Wolfe and Assistant to the City Administrator Schawn Johnson provided the City Council with an overview of the proposed changes to the health insurance policy for non-union City staff members. City Administrator Michelle Wolfe stated that department heads have met with non-union city staff members to discuss the proposed changes to the health insurance plan. MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Grant seconded a motion to approve the changes to the City's health insurance policy for 2006. The motion carried unanimously(3-0). 7.
