2 <br /> The tennis and basketball court at Floral Park is scheduled for maintenance in 2012. The <br /> Floral Park hard court is in poor shape due to roots and leaves from surrounding trees. The <br /> roots are causing structural issues and the leaves sit on the surface, causing deterioration. <br /> Photos of the current conditions are included for Council review. Foundation cracks <br /> cannot be permanently fixed by resurfacing. However, a resurface will improve the <br /> surface of the court, improving safety. During a resurface project, the court is power <br /> washed, low areas and cracks are filled and an acrylic surface is applied. This court was <br /> last resurfaced in 2006. Staff recommends resurfacing this court in 2012 and scheduling it <br /> for a reconstruct in five years (2017). Staff also recommends that the Public Works Dept. <br /> begin working on cutting roots and trimming trees along the perimeter of the courts in <br /> conjunction with the resurface. Staff sought quotes to reconstruct these courts to properly <br /> budget for this improvement for the future. The reconstruction cost estimate is between <br /> $38,000 and$45,000. <br /> Budget <br /> Staff budgeted $15,000 from the general fund in 2012 for hard court maintenance. Staff <br /> requested five quotes for the basketball court resurfaces at Floral Park and the following <br /> are the results: <br /> Company Quote <br /> Lee Sports Surfacing LLC $10,450 <br /> Tennis West—Finley Bros. Inc. $10,930 <br /> C &H Sport Surfaces, Inc. Submitted letter that <br /> schedule did not allow quote <br /> Surface Pro LLC Did not submit <br /> Lee Sports Surfacing LLC, located in Little Canada came in with the low quote of$10,450. <br /> They resurfaced the Sampson and Arden Manor Courts in 2012. They have over forty five <br /> years experience in the recreational industry.
