EXISTING UTILITY CONDITIONS <br /> City utilities located within the project limits include storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer. A <br /> summary of the City's utilities are listed below. Private utilities include gas, electric, cable <br /> television, and telephone. <br /> Water System <br /> The existing conditions for the water system were obtained from City as-built drawings. The <br /> following is a table of the existing watermains with information on pipe size, pipe material, and <br /> history of watermain breaks. The watermain was constructed in 1967. <br /> Pipe Pipe <br /> Street Size Material Watermain Break History <br /> Asbury Avenue 8" Cast Iron 1 <br /> Edgewater Avenue 6" Cast Iron 4 <br /> Glenhill Road 8" Cast Iron 0 <br /> Ridgewood Road 6" Cast Iron 4 <br /> Public Works staff has inspected the hydrants and gate valves within the project limits to <br /> determine what improvements are necessary. The recommended water system improvements are <br /> discussed later in this report. <br /> Sanitary Sewer System <br /> The existing conditions for the sanitary sewer system were obtained from City as-built drawings <br /> and televised recordings performed by the Public Works Department. The following is a table of <br /> the existing sanitary sewer with information on pipe size, pipe material, and any problems noted <br /> from the televising. The sanitary sewer was constructed in 1959. <br /> Pipe Pipe <br /> Street Size Material Problems/Notes <br /> Asbury Avenue 8" Clay Roots, cracked pipe <br /> Edgewater Avenue 10" Clay Roots,mineral deposits <br /> Glenhill Road 8" Clay Roots,mineral deposits <br /> Ridgewood Road 8"-10" Clay/lined Roots; portion lined in 2011 <br /> In addition to the above information, City staff also inspected all sanitary sewer manholes within <br /> the project limits to determine if maintenance should be performed in conjunction with the street <br /> improvement project. The recommended manhole and pipe maintenance is discussed later in this <br /> report. <br /> 4 <br />
