'I't
EN HILLS
MEMORANDUM
DATE: December 10, 2012
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
Patrick Klaers, City Administrator
FROM: Sue Iverson, Finance Director of Finance and Administrative Services
SUBJECT: Adoption of the 2013 City Contribution for Employee Benefits
Background
Each year in December, the City sets the monthly contribution rate for employee benefits
for the next year.
Discussion
As part of the annual budget and levy adoption process, the Council is also asked to
approve the 2013 City contribution for employee benefits. The City contribution rate is
currently set by increasing the current contribution by 50% of the increase in premiums
for the next year of the HSA plan. Since the City discontinued the Co-Pay Plan and
added an embedded deductible HSA Option as a second plan, there is no change to the
contribution rate this year as this plan's premium is lower than the other HSA option.
The employee contribution rate of$697.42 per month per employee for 2013 has been
calculated into the proposed 2013 budget as discussed at previous Council worksessions.
Council Action
Motion to adopt Resolution 2012-047, a Resolution setting the City Contribution to
Employee Monthly Benefits at the amount of$697.42 per month, per employee.
City Council Meeting
P:\Admin\Council\Agendas&Packet Information\2012\12-10-12 Reg Mtg\Packet\2013 City Benefit
Contribution.doc
