2A, Recognition for Years of Service and Employee of the Year

2 Frequently the completion of such a project has a major impact on the operations of the department or the City as a whole. This category recognizes employees for such accomplishments. The ERC announced the Employee of the Year at an all employee luncheon on Thursday, December 19, 2012. The 2012 Employee of the Year is Kyle Howard of the Finance and Administrative Services Department. The following are a few of the comments included on the nomination for Kyle: Kyle Howard—Finance and Administrative Services Department, Finance Analyst • Began with City as a finance intern in February, 2009 • Employed full time with City since November, 2010. • Extremely dedicated and has helped bring the finance department to a new level. • Consistently projects a positive image of the City. • Assisted Finance Director with the budget, Capital Improvement Plan, forecasting and working with the Financial Planning and Analysis Committee. • Has picked up several projects and managed them; in particular,the utility rate study for the City's utilities. • Has been instrumental in developing procedures and internal controls in the Finance Department. • Is the point person for Springbrook software, Plan It, SharePoint, City credit card programs and RevTrak. • Continually reviews processes and recommends changes to implement in the future. • Was a key factor in helping with the utility billing system and the Springbrook software conversions. • Worked on the City's forecasting model and has made significant progress in making the model operational for us to do forecasting. • Consistently stepped in and helped the Finance Director and has taken on responsibilities at times that are not in his job description, which has been a great asset to the finance department and to the City. Recognition for Year's of Service The Employee Recognition Committee recognized four individuals for Years of Service. The policy states that employees shall be recognized for every five (5) years of employment with the City. Employees shall receive a certificate from the City recognizing them for their years of service.
