The City is interested in <br /> exploring expansion of its recycling service to commercial and multi-family <br /> properties, along with other options <br /> f. Project Partners: Ramsey County Environmental Health Staff and Eureka <br /> Recycling <br /> 3. Reduction of Construction Waste <br /> a. Project Lead: City Planner <br /> b. The purpose of the project is to identify ways to reduce on-site demolition and <br /> construction waste and promote recycling during the build out of TCAAP. The <br /> scope of the work would include policies,programs, incentives, or regulations <br /> that would reduce demolition and construction waste, and increase recycling and <br /> use of recycled-content materials. <br /> c. What are best practices related to the reduction of on-site generated construction <br /> waste? What are solutions that could be utilized during the construction of <br /> TCAAP? <br /> d. Deliverable: Literature review to determine what has been done in this area <br /> already. Best practices and recommendations for what the City can do to reduce <br /> demolition and construction waste and promote recycling during large scale <br /> construction projects, and also for smaller-scale development and redevelopment <br /> projects <br /> e. Sustainability Impact: Promotion of waste reduction. The City is interested <br /> minimizing the amount of truck traffic and promoting waste reduction during <br /> such a large construction project. <br /> f. Project Partners: Ramsey County Environmental Health Staff <br /> Recommendation <br /> Staff recommends moving forward with an application to the PEIG program with a funding <br /> request of$25,000. <br /> Requested Action <br /> Review the Public Entity Innovation Grant (PEIG) and direct Staff on whether to move forward <br /> with an application in the amount of$25,000. <br /> City of Arden Hills <br /> February 11, 2013, Regular Council Meeting <br /> Page 3 of 3 <br />
