CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> ® MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: June 19, 1996 <br /> TO: Economic Development Committee <br /> FROM: Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director <br /> SUBJECT: Monthly Report <br /> 1. Gateway Business District. The project that the Staff has been working on in the GBD <br /> has expanded to include the development of the northerly one-third of the vacant portion <br /> of the GBD (Exhibit A). Welsh Companies is proposing to construct approximately <br /> 500,000 square feet of buildings. Welsh Companies currently owns or has purchase <br /> agreements on all of the effected properties, except for the City property, which they hope <br /> to purchase soon. The Staff will keep the EDC informed on the progress of this proposal. <br /> 2. Space for Lease. The Staff has requested information from commercial real estate <br /> brokers on available space in Arden Hills (Exhibit B). <br /> 3. Emerging Companies. The June of 1996 edition of Twin Cities Business Monthly <br /> • contained an article listing 30 of the Twin Cities emerging companies which are poised <br /> for rapid growth(Exhibit C). Of these 30 companies, two are located in Arden Hills. <br /> The two companies are Data Sciences International, Inc (4211 Lexington Avenue North) <br /> and LSC, Inc (4211 Lexington Avenue North) <br /> 4. Business Tracking System, Quarterly Report. Attached to this memorandum the EDC <br /> will find the Quarterly Report of the Minnesota Business Tracking System (Exhibit D). <br /> The report was prepared by the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic <br /> Development (DTED). <br /> I <br /> 5. Land O' Lakes 75th anniversary, congratulatory resolution. The City Council at its <br /> June 10, 1996 meeting unanimously adopted the resolution forwarded to them by the <br /> EDC which congratulated Land O' Lakes on their 75th anniversary. The City Council <br /> also proclaimed July 10th and 11th of 1996 as Land O' Lakes Days in Arden Hills. <br /> • <br />
