CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: September 20, 1995 <br /> TO: Economic Development Committee <br /> FROM: Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director <br /> SUBJECT: September Meeting <br /> Please be advised that the September 20, 1995 regular meeting of the Economic Development <br /> Committee (EDC) has been canceled. The next meeting of the EDC will be Wednesday, October <br /> 18, 1995 at 8:00 AM at the Army Reserve Center. <br /> The following is a brief list of Staff activities over the past few weeks. <br /> 1. Gateway Business District <br /> The Staff is continuing to work with Hom Oak and Leather on locating their prototype <br /> corporate office/retail/manufacturing facility in the Gateway Business District(GBD). <br /> The Staff is also working with Ramsey County on the traffic analysis for Highway 96, in <br /> particular, its intersection with Round Lake Road. One of the purposes of this analysis is <br /> to determine alignments of that intersection, so as to maximize the traffic capacity of the <br /> GBD. <br /> 2. TCAAP <br /> The Arden Hills Task Force has identified a preferred alternative for the future land use <br /> within TCAAP. The preferred alternative was presented to the TCAAP Re-utilization <br /> Committee (the Vento Committee) on Saturday, September 9, 1995. The City is <br /> currently working with the Vento Committee on building consensus between those two <br /> organizations, so as to allow for the continuation of the planning process. The next <br /> meeting of the Vento Committee is Saturday, September 16, 1995. It is anticipated that <br /> the Vento Committee will vote on their preferred re-use of the TCAAP site on Saturday, <br /> October 7, 1995. I am attaching a copy of the Arden Hills Task Force preferred <br /> alternative for your information. <br /> 3. CPI Guidant <br /> CPI Guidant has announced a major consolidation of their operations into Arden Hills. <br /> CPI Guidant will be initially leasing approximately 120,000 square feet of space in the <br /> Control Data building. It is anticipated that this consolidation will add several hundred <br /> new jobs in the next several years. Staff is working with the Minnesota Department of <br /> Trade and Economic Development(DTED), Metro East Partnership,NSP, and US WEST <br /> to facilitate the consolidation. <br />
