Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes <br /> Wednesday, February 21, 1996 <br /> 8:00 a.m. <br /> Army Reserve Center <br /> 1. Call to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 8:05 a.m. <br /> 2. Attendance <br /> Present were: Ray McGraw, Vice-Chair; Steve Freimuth; Tom Goblirsch; Terry Nagle; <br /> Council Liaison, Beverly Aplikowski; Finance Committee representative, Tom Steele; <br /> City Administrator, Brian Fritsinger; and Community Development Director, Kevin <br /> Ringwald. <br /> Absent were: Dan McCallum, Chair; and Arnold Lindberg. <br /> 3. Oath of Office <br /> The Oath of Office was administered to EDC members Goblirsch and Nagle by Council <br /> • liaison Aplikowski for the year of 1996. <br /> 4. Approval of Minutes <br /> Minutes of the January 17, 1996 regular meeting of the EDC were approved. <br /> 5. Monthly Report <br /> The Staff briefed the committee on its activities over the past month. Discussion took <br /> place on the progress in the Gateway Business District(GBD). The Staff informed the <br /> EDC that they are working with several different companies on potentially locating in the <br /> GBD. <br /> The Staff also informed the EDC that the City Council had established an Economic <br /> Development Authority (EDA) for the City of Arden Hills. The Staff described the <br /> development/redevelopment activities which an EDA could become involved in. The <br /> Staff informed the EDC that the EDA was set up so that the City Council would sit as the <br /> members of the EDA. It was generally agreed that an EDA would be a useful tool, if and <br /> when property became available at TCAAP. <br /> 6. Committee Member Recruitment Update <br /> The EDC discussed that increasing the membership in the EDC is priority goal for 1996. <br /> To that end, the EDC members are responsible for the recruitment of new members to the <br /> EDC. The Staff will contact these people and then forward their applications to the City <br /> . Council for consideration of appointment to the EDC. <br />
