t
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
• MEMORANDUM
DATE: January 17, 1996
TO: Economic Development Committee
FROM: Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director
SUBJECT: 1996 Goals
The Economic Development Committee at its December 20, 1995 regular meeting identified its
goals for 1996 and for the future. The Economic Development Committee will find a summary
of these goals attached to this memorandum (Exhibit A).
The City Council at its worksession on December 21, 1995 reviewed these goals. The City
Council generally concurred with these goals. Therefore at this time it would be appropriate to
initiate discussion on the implementation of these goals.
Increase Committee Membership
• The Economic Development Committee had the increase in committee membership as its top
priority for 1996. The current membership of the Economic Development Committee is attached
to this memorandum (Exhibit B).
The Staff would like to discuss with the Economic Development Committee the progress that
they have made in establishing contacts for the enlistment of new members to the committee.
Enhance Business Contacts
The Economic Development Committee had the enhancement of business contacts as its second
priority for 1996. The enhancement of business contacts is broken down into four subparts.
Those subparts are: produce a marketing brochure; discuss the economic development budget;
establish business retention programs; and attract, develop, re-develop, and retain business
opportunities within the City.
The Staff would like to discuss with the Economic Development Committee their strategy for
implementing the goal of enhancing business contacts and its four subparts.
•
