CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> ' MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: November 15, 1995 <br /> TO: Economic Development Committee <br /> FROM: Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director <br /> i <br /> SUBJECT: Monthly Report <br /> The following is a brief list of Staff contact over the past several weeks. <br /> 1. GalaGen, Inc. <br /> GalaGen is an spin-off company of Land O'Lakes. The company is currently located at <br /> the Land O'Lakes facility in Arden Hills, where they are conducting research and <br /> development activities. GalaGen is a Biopharmaceutical company making products <br /> derived from dairy milk to fight gastrointestinal diseases. GalaGen is hoping to receive <br /> approval from the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) in early 1996 for their first <br /> production drug. <br /> If production and commercial acceptance of this drug is successful, then GalaGen would <br /> be looking at expanding their operations. The Staff is working with GalaGen on this <br /> eventuality and particularly with respect to the GBD. Attached you will find a Corporate <br /> Overview of GalaGen for your information (Exhibit A). <br /> 2. CPI Guidant <br /> The Staff is continuing to work with CPI Guidant on their consolidation and expansion in <br /> Arden Hills. Staff has provided the State of Minnesota with the Phase I application for <br /> the Minnesota Economic Recovery Fund grant(Exhibit B). The Staff and CPI Guidant <br /> are now working on the Phase II application it is anticipated that the Phase II application <br /> will be presented to the State by December 1, 1995. The State has informed CPI Guidant <br /> that they can expect to receive a grant(forgivable loan) of$250,000 to $300,000. <br /> The Staff will keep the Committee informed on their activities as it relates to this matter. <br />
