ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL APRIL 8, 20135 <br /> <br />follow the process outlined in State Statute 429. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Anderson <br />indicated the next step in the process after the bids are <br />opened is to declare the amount of the cost to be assessed and to set the date for the assessment <br />hearing. A public hearing prior to adopting the assessment is a requirement of the statute. Staff <br />reviewed the bid results noting the low bid was $723,366.70 and was submitted by North Valley, <br />Inc. who has successfully completed similar projects in the past. The engineering and overhead <br />costs were then reviewed in detail along with the anticipated assessment amounts for this project. <br />The total project costs are estimated to be $937,523.26. Staff recommended the Council declare <br />the amount to be assessed as $213,659.64 and order preparation of the assessment roll, in addition <br />to setting the date for the assessment hearing as May 13, 2013. <br /> <br />Councilmember McClung <br /> asked when the bid will be accepted. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Anderson <br /> explained this will be done on May 13, 2013, after the <br />assessment hearing. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Maurer <br /> commented that detailed lot information will be provided to the <br />Council prior to the assessment hearing as there are some unique lots within the planned project <br />area. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember Werner moved and Councilmember McClung seconded a <br />motion to adopt Resolution No. 2013-017, a Resolution Declaring Cost to be <br />Assessed and Ordering Preparation of Assessment Roll. The motion carried <br />(4-0). <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember Werner moved and Councilmember McClung seconded a <br />motion to adopt Resolution No. 2013-18, a Resolution Setting the Date for <br />Assessment Hearing to be May 13, 2013. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember McClung <br /> noted the Ramsey County Friends of the Park tree sale is going on at <br />th <br />this time. The order deadline is April 19 and information ite. <br /> <br />Councilmember Werner <br />stated the Economic Development Commission is seeking volunteers at <br />this time and they meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. He encouraged those <br />interested to contact City Hall. <br /> <br />th <br />Councilmember Holmes <br />indicated on Saturday, April 20 Earth Day will be celebrated. A clean <br />up event will be held at Tony Schmidt Park from 9:00-11:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmes <br />stated there are now no parking signs on the south side of the street <br />along County Road E2 near the office complex. <br /> <br />
