CONSENT ITEM <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: <br />May 28, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: <br />Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />ICMA Annual Conference <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Estimated Amount: Funding Source: <br />$1,200 $2,500 Administration General <br />Fund Budget <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The City annually budgets for me to attend my International City Management Association <br />(ICMA) annual conference. I have working for Arden Hills since May 2010 and I have not yet <br />attended any of my national conferences. I hope to change that trend and I want to attend the <br />ICMA annual conference in 2013. The Conference is in Boston this September 22-25. <br />rd <br />Registration begins Monday, June 3. <br />As far as ICMA conferences locations go, Boston is not a cheap City and I expect the total <br />expenses for the conference to be in the $2,500 range (for registration, air, and transportation, <br />hotel for 5 nights, and meals). There is not this much money planned for in the budget for this <br />conference, but I did not attend my state conference so these funds ($500) are available and there <br />is sufficient funds that are undesignated in the training budget to cover my expenses. I anticipate <br />that some expenses will be paid for in advance by the City (i.e. conference registration) and other <br />expenses will paid to me as reimbursements. <br />Recommendation <br />Approve the City Administrator attending the 2013 ICMA annual conference. <br />11 <br />Page of <br />
