NEW BUSINESS MEMORANDUM DATE: May 28, 2013 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers Patrick Klaers, City Administrator FROM: Amy Dietl, Deputy Clerk SUBJECT: Consider Approval of Catholic United Financial Outdoor Concert License Background/Discussion Staff received an application from Catholic United Financial for an Outdoor Concert License. The applicant is holding a Gather 4 Good event on Saturday, June 15, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. During the event, approximately 1500 personal care kits will be assembled and later given to organizations to distribute to those in need due to natural disasters such as flood, tornado, fire, etc. It is anticipated that 400 volunteers will be present to assist with the assembly of the kits. Approximately 114 regular parking spaces and six handicap parking spaces are available on An additional dozen parking spaces are available behind the Catholic United Financial building back by the warehouse. It is anticipated that there may be overflow parking on the street as well as additional parking at the shopping strip mall just north of their property (with prior permission from the property owner). Catholic United Financial is catering lunch at the event, and is supplying port-a-potties for the volunteers. Several tents will be set-up on the property. It should be noted that the applicant went through the appropriate application process to obtain approval for the presence of the tents. The applicant is also supplying a stage and musician for background music, which is why they are applying for an Outdoor Concert License. The stage riser is 12 x 12, which is under the height restriction for inspections and the stage does not need stairs. The applicant is working with the Lake Johanna Fire Department to provide a first aid station. and its anticipated increase in traffic and parking. The applicant is also notifying immediate neighbors (to the south and west) of the upcoming event. 12 Page of
