<br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: June 10, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Sanitary Sewer Lining Improvement Bids <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br />$662,000.00 $625,526.05 $500,000.00 Sanitary Sewer <br />Utility Fund <br />$162,000.00 MCES Grant <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Adopt Resolution 2013-027 Awarding the 2013 Sanitary Sewer Lining base bid plus a portion of <br /> <br />alternate bid B to SAK Construction LLC in the amount of $625,526.05. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />In 2013, the City applied for and received a grant from the Metropolitan Council Environmental <br />Services (MCES) to assist with the cost of sanitary sewer lining. The grant amount is up to <br />$162,000.00 and can be used for 25% of the construction cost of sanitary sewer lining with the <br />City paying 75%. This grant is from bond monies provided by the State Legislature specifically <br />to assist with the elimination of inflow and infiltration (I/I) into the metropolitan sanitary sewer <br />system. The City of Arden Hills received a similar grant from this program in 2011. <br /> <br />The 2013 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) has an item for sanitary sewer lining in the <br />amount of $500,000.00 anticipating this MCES grant program and attempting to maximize it to <br /> A copy of the CIP detail sheet is attached. <br /> <br />On Thursday May 23, 2013, City staff opened bids for the 2013 Sanitary Sewer Lining project. <br />The project consisted of a base bid and three alternate bid areas that could be added in whole or <br /> <br />13 <br />Page of <br /> <br />
