CONSENT ITEM 5-G

MEMORANDUM

DATE: June 24, 2013

TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
Patrick Klaers, City Administrator

FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director

SUBJECT: Round Lake Road Feasibility Report

Requested Action

Authorize staff to solicit a proposal from engineering firms for the preparation of a feasibility
report for the Round Lake Road street and utility improvement.

Background/Discussion

At the work session on June 17, 2013, the City Council gave consensus to proceed with the
feasibility report for a possible Round Lake Road street and utility improvement in 2014. The
project would generally consist of the following items:

Sanitary Sewer

A 12 inch sanitary sewer line would be extended from the Metropolitan Council
Environmental Services (MCES) meter station at the south end of Round Lake Road to
Lift Station #11 near the entrance to Arden Manor. This would allow for the elimination
of Lift Station #11.

Water Main

Replace the existing 8 inch water main under Round Lake Road with a larger 12 inch line
to increase pressure and fire flows in the area.

Street

The existing road would be reconstructed to a 48 to 52 foot wide urban 10-ton roadway
which meets Municipal State Aid (MSA) standards. The roadway section would include
an 8 foot wide sidewalk on the east side.
12
Page of
