CONSENT ITEM <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: September 9, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Iverson, Director of Finance and Administrative Services <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Deputy Clerk Title Change to City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />In June of 2012, we hired Amy Dietl as our Deputy Clerk. During this recruitment process we <br />had a difficult time recruiting experienced applicants for what we were looking for as our job <br />description and requirements are comparable to a City Clerk and not a Deputy Clerk. At that <br />time staff discussed this with the Personnel Committee and it was decided that we might want to <br />change the title to City Clerk. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Amy has now been in the position for over a year and is doing a great job. She has attended all <br />of the City Clerk trainings and is a Certified Municipal Clerk in Minnesota. Staff believes that <br />she is functioning at the City Clerk level and is doing all the duties of a City Clerk. The <br />Personnel Committee recommends that her title be changed to City Clerk, no salary adjustment <br />is proposed at this time. <br /> <br />With this change, Patrick Klaers would be named as Deputy Clerk as he is now designated as the <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />Motion to approve Resolution 2013-033, a resolution appointing Amy Dietl as the City Clerk of <br />Arden Hills. <br /> <br />11 <br />Page of <br /> <br />
