City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy Effective August 26, 2003 <br /> <br />EDUCATIONAL REIMBURSEMENT POLICY <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills believes in, and encourages employees to pursue higher levels of <br />education and training. It is the policy of the city to reimburse employees for courses <br />instruction which will enable the employee to prepare for advanc <br />capacity, increased responsibility within the employee's current position, or for personal <br />development which are city employment related; but may not be ne <br />employee's current position. <br /> <br />Eligibility <br /> <br />Reimbursement is limited to regular full and part-time employees who attend approved <br />courses or instruction on a voluntary basis outside normal working hours. Reimbursement <br />under this section precludes submission of those courses for oth <br /> <br />Financial Remuneration <br /> <br />Reimbursement will be made pursuant to the following guidelines: <br /> <br />1. Attendance at any class or course intended to be reimbursed by t <br />municipality must have the PRIOR approval of the employee's supervisor. <br />Reimbursement can not be assured for any class work started prio <br />the appropriate approvals; <br /> <br />2. Course work must be related to the employee's area of municipal responsibility. <br />In the case of liberal education undergraduate or graduate colle <br />a degree is being sought, employees will be expected to discuss lective course <br />work with their department head to develop an overall course work plan that is <br />consistent with the intent of this policy. Reimbursement may be denied for <br />elective course work that is not consistent with the intent of this policy. For <br />technical or program based college career programs, reimbursement will <br />made available for all course work, provided specific program credits are pre- <br />approved. Reimbursement may be denied for courses taken that differ from t <br />originally approved program schedule. Reimbursement for seminars or <br />individual training programs shall be determined at the time of aking the <br />request for training. <br /> <br /> <br /> 36 <br />
