CONSENT ITEM <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: October 28, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: South Water Tower Rehabilitation - Payment No.2 and Change Order No.1 <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Approve Payment No. 2 to Classic Protective Coatings, Inc., for the South Water Tower <br />Rehabilitation Project in the amount of $446,500 and Change Order No. 1. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills awarded the South Water Tower Rehabilitation Project to Classic <br />Protective Coatings, Inc., on April 29, 2013, in the amount of $783,250. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Payment No. 2 (a copy is attached), after 5% retainage, is in the amount of $446,500 and covers <br />work through September 2013. The major components of work completed for this payment <br />include: <br /> <br /> <br />Containment System <br /> <br />Sand Blast and Paint Interior Wet <br /> <br />Sand Blast and Paint Interior Dry <br /> <br />Sand Blast and Paint Exterior <br /> <br />Change Order No. 1 adds a new City requested red LED aviation light on the top of the tower <br />and replaces the service door and frame which was found to be severely deteriorated. It also <br />reduces the contract by eliminating the welding that was not needed and reducing a portion of <br />grinding that was not used. The total cost of Change Order No. 1 is a contract increase of $3,650 <br />which makes the total contract amount $786,900. <br />12 <br />Page of <br /> <br />
