CONSENT ITEM <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: December 9, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: South Water Tower Rehabilitation - Payment No.3 and No. 4 <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Approve Payment No. 3 and Final Payment No. 4 to Classic Protective Coatings, Inc., for the <br />South Water Tower Rehabilitation Project in the total amount of $185,350. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills awarded the South Water Tower Rehabilitation Project to Classic <br />Protective Coatings, Inc., on April 29, 2013, in the amount of $783,250. On October 28, 2013, <br />Change Order No. 1 was approved to replace the service door and frame and to add an LED <br />aviation light on top. The cost for Change Order No. 1 was $3,650 bringing the total contract <br />amount to $786,900. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Payment No. 3 (a copy is attached), after 5% retainage, is in the amount of $146,205 and covers <br />work through October 2013. The major components of work completed for this payment <br />include: <br /> <br /> <br />Containment System <br /> <br />Final Paint Interior Wet <br /> <br />Final Paint Interior Dry <br /> <br />Final Paint Exterior <br /> <br />Final Payment No. 4 simply releases the 5% retainage of $39,145 now that the contractor has <br />completed all punch list work and provided all necessary paperwork. <br /> <br />12 <br />Page of <br /> <br />
