CONSENT ITEM <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: December 9, 2013 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2013 Sanitary Sewer Lining Improvement - Final Payment No. 3 <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Approve Final Payment No. 3 to SAK Construction, LLC, for the 2013 Sanitary Sewer Lining <br />Improvement in the amount of $31,791.98. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills awarded the 2013 Sanitary Sewer Lining Improvement to SAK <br />Construction, LLC, on June 10, 2013, in the amount of $625,178.73. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The final contract amount is $635,839.55; approximately $10,000.00 over the original award <br />amount. This increase is due to two items; first two protruding sewer services were found and <br />staff had SAK remove them at a cost of $1,250.00 and second staff had SAK line a small section <br /> on the Snelling Avenue Mill and Overlay project rather than dig it up to <br />make the repair and risk a trench settlement at a cost of $9,500.00 (this cost will be funded by the <br />Surface Water Management Fund). <br /> <br />Final Payment No. 3 (a copy is attached), simply releases the 5% retainage now that all punch <br />list work has been completed and final paperwork has been submitted. The payment is in the <br />amount of $31,791.98. <br /> <br />All funding for the 2013 Sanitary Sewer Lining Improvement comes from the Sanitary Sewer <br />Utility Fund and a grant received from the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services <br />(MCES) with the exception of the storm sewer work on Snelling Avenue which will be paid for <br />from the Surface Water Management Fund. <br /> <br />Attachment <br /> <br /> <br />Attachment A - Payment No. 3 <br /> <br />11 <br />Page of <br /> <br />
