Treestreatedwouldberetreatedin4yearsversus2-3years. <br />CountypolicyistonotplanttreesalongtheRightofWay(ROW).AnytreeplantingintheROWis <br />donebymunicipalitiesorprivatehomeowners.Thecareofthosetreesistheresponsibilityofthose <br />whoplantthem. <br />Roseville <br />Employeesaseasonalforestrytechnician <br />EABmanagementplanapprovedin2010. <br />Treated“Significant”(definedaspark,noboulevardtrees)treesbeginningin2013.Theybegannear <br />theLangtonParkareabecauseofthepositivefindingsinthisarea.Treated70treesin2013for <br />approximately$6,000. <br />Cityisresponsibleforboulevard(ROW)andpublictrees. <br />Ifaresidentwouldliketotreataboulevardtree,theyneedtosecureapermitthroughtheCityandthe <br />treemustbetagged. <br />Maintainalistoflicensedtreecontractors. <br />St. Paul <br />Adopted a City wide EAB Management Strategy. <br />The City of Saint Paul is responsible for all public and boulevard trees. <br />TheCityofSaintPaulemploysinsecticideasjustonetooltoassistinslowingthespreadofEAB,and <br />asameansofresponsetoamoremanageabletimeandexpense.Treatmentofboulevardtreesisnot <br />employedasameansofsavingtreesforthelongterm. <br />2011: 299 boulevard ash trees were treated with a trunk injection of TREE-age (emamectin benzoate) <br />in a one mile radius of the original Saint Anthony EAB infestation. <br />2012: 400 boulevard ash trees were treated with a trunk injection of TREE-age in the expanded <br />treatment areas of Saint Anthony Park, Como, Hamline-Midway, Union Park, Summit-University, <br />and Summit Hill neighborhoods. <br />2013: Treatment areas will include the re-treatment of boulevard ash trees in Saint Anthony Park <br />(treated in 2011), and an undetermined expansion of the 2012 treatment area. <br />Criteria for boulevard ash tree treatment <br />10-20 inches DBH (diameter at breast height) <br />o <br />Good overall health without structural defects <br />o <br />Good growing location with wide boulevards and no utility conflicts <br />o <br />The trunk injection method of administeringTREE-age (Emamectin benzoate)is the preferred <br />method, based on the reduced possibility of surface and groundwater contamination. Soil drenches <br />are avoided, based on the high potential of shallow groundwater contamination and toxicity to <br />mammals, fish andaquatic invertebrates <br />Shoreview <br />ApprovedEABManagementPlanin2012. <br />Cityisresponsibleforboulevardandpublictrees. <br />RequiretreecontractorsbecomelicensedthroughtheCity.
