CONSENT ITEM 5F <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: January 13, 2014 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Amy Dietl, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Economic Development Commission (EDC) Appointment <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills has a nine-member Economic Development Commission (EDC). <br />Members may be Arden Hills residents or representatives of Arden Hills businesses. At least <br />three members of the EDC must be Arden Hills residents. The EDC advises the City Council on <br />issues related to economic and business development. The EDC currently has five members, <br />three of whom are Arden Hills residents. An application for EDC Commissioner was received <br />from David Radziej, an Arden Hills resident who also currently serves the City of Arden Hills as <br />a member of the Financial Planning and Analysis Committee (FPAC). Mr. Radziej is the <br />President/CEO of the Non-Profit Trade Association and has years of experience volunteering his <br />time on various civic, professional, and community boards. <br /> <br />Pursuant to City policy on appointments to the EDC, Mayor Grant has determined that a formal <br />interview is not necessary. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant asked that staff prepare a recommendation for the City Council to appoint Mr. <br />Radziej to the EDC. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />The City Council is asked to appoint David Radziej to the Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />Attachment <br /> <br />Attachment A: Resolution 2014-005 <br />Attachment B: Current EDC Roster with Term Expirations <br /> <br />
