Gambling Permit <br />Background/Discussion <br />TheCityhasreceivedanapplicationfromMerrick,Inc.foranoff-sitegamblingpermitto <br />conductraffleandpaddlewheelgamesatFlahertysArdenBowlonMarch23,2014.Per <br />MinnesotasLawfulGamblingregulations,Merrick,Inc.isrequiredtoobtainacknowledgment <br />and approval by resolution from the City to conduct off-site gambling. <br />Merrick,Inc.isholdingits12AnnualBowl-A-Thonwithallproceedsoftheeventgoingto <br />th <br />supportadultswithintellectualanddevelopmentaldisabilitiesatMerrick,Inc.Merrick,Inc.isa <br />privatenonprofit501(c)(3)corporationdedicatedtoempoweringadultswithdisabilities.It <br />currentlysupportsover375adultsandisoneofthelargestDayTrainingandHabilitation <br />(DT&H)programsinthestate.Themoneyraisedatthiseventwithhelpprovideservicesto <br />Merrick,Inc.sclients(self-advocacy;social/leisureactivities;physical,occupational,speech, <br />and sensory therapies; and a retirement program). <br />Requested Action <br />StaffrecommendsapprovingResolution2014-014ApprovingLG230ApplicationtoConduct <br />Off-Site Gambling for Merrick, Inc. <br />Attachments: <br />Attachment A: LG230 Application <br />Attachment B: Resolution 2014-014 <br />11 <br />Page of <br />
