AGENDA ITEM
MEMORANDUM
DATE:March 18, 2014
TO:Parks Trails and Recreation Committee
FROM:Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager
SUBJECT:Joint Meeting Debrief, 2014Work Plan Discussion
Requested Action
The PTRC may want to take this time to discuss their thoughts on how the meeting went, create
their work plan based on ideas shared at the meeting and any other related discussion that the
committee is interested in.
Background
The February18, 2013 joint PTRC/City Council meeting went well. There was good
discussion on all topics on the agenda. The City Council reviewedthe proposed 2014
committee goalsand work plan with a fewchanges (Attachment A):
Under Ongoing and As Needed Goals: Add language to #4: Continue to work
with Ramsey County AND SURROUNDING CITIES/ORGANIZATIONSon
mutually beneficial trail/park projects and activities.
For the 2014 proposed work plan, the Council consensus was to monitor the use
of Lindey’s Park in 2014 before bringing a proposal for prairie restoration of the
open space. There are concerns about that area being active and losing an open
green space.Staff removed the Prairie Restoration Proposal from the work plan
priorities. Lindey’s Park usage analysis fits under the park improvement analysis.
For the 2014 proposed work plan, although it is mentioned in ongoing and as
needed goals, the Council asked for TCAAP Park Development Review to be
included. Staff added this priority.
Staff has included a draft schedule for the work plan that the committee can revise and edit at
Tuesday night’s meeting (Attachment B).
