<br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: June 16, 2014 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br /> Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Iverson, Director of Finance and Administrative Services <br /> Kyle Howard, Finance Analyst <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2015 2019 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />As part of the 2015 budget process, a five-year capital improvement plan is prepared. Staff <br />prepared the preliminary CIP for Council discussion as part of this process. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Staff last discussed the CIP as a whole with the City Council at the November work session <br />and the City Council approved the 2014-2018 plan in December. Since that time, staff has <br />discussed various items with Council at work sessions. <br /> <br />Staff has added 2019 to the plan and updated any changes in the plan or the cost estimates <br />since the Council last saw the 2014-2018 CIP. A summary of major changes is as follows and <br />a detailed description can be found in the CIP book. <br /> <br /> <br />A.Economic Development <br /> <br /> <br />Moved the 2015 sign to 2016 and added $5,000 to the estimated cost. <br /> <br /> <br />B.Parks Capital Improvements <br /> <br />Added $120,000 to year 2019 on the regular replacement schedule for play <br />structures. Arden Manor and Arden Oaks are up for replacement in 2019. <br /> <br /> <br />C.Park Capital Improvements <br /> <br /> Changed the Mounds View Trail Project to extend the original planned trail <br />on Lake Valentine Road all the way to Glenview/Crystal Avenue, connecting <br />to Valentine Park.
