PUBLIC HEARINGS - 7B <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: June 30, 2014 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Hwy 96/35W Interchange-Municipal Consent <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing on the layout for the proposed new interchange at Hwy 96/35W. At <br />the close of the Public Hearing consider adopting Resolution 2014-034 Approving the Final <br />Layout. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />A new interchange is proposed at Hwy 96/35W. The project is being led by Ramsey County <br />with Beth Engum the Project Manager. Some of the project funding is being provided by <br />MnDOT. Ramsey County has hired SEH as the consultant to assist with the preliminary and <br />final design of the project. Construct is anticipated to occur in 2015. This new interchange will <br />provide improved freeway access to and from the redevelopment of TCAAP. <br /> <br />The County and their consultant have gone through a long process evaluating alternative designs <br />for the new interchange. Beth Engum has been before the Council at the May 27th Work <br />Session to discuss the evaluation process and the chosen alternative. The chosen alternative is a <br />Divergent Diamond Interchange (DDI). <br /> <br />rovide a brief presentation of the final layout <br />and be available for questions from the Council and/or public.
