2 <br /> <br />Attends City Counciland other meetings as directed. <br /> <br />Serves as staff liaison to the PTRC <br /> <br />Speaks to community leaders and groups on recreation programs. <br /> <br />Prepares quarterly and annual reports on recreation program participation, budget status, etc. <br /> <br />Assists with the Public Works Director/City Engineer with preparing the annual Recreation Department and <br />Parks Department budgets. <br /> <br />Oversees City forestry with the Public Works Director, including tree inventory, inspect ions, maintenance and <br />abatements. <br /> <br />Responsible for the preparation of scheduled activities on fields/parks, special equipment or set up. <br /> <br />Coordinates volunteer groups for Parks and Recreation programs. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE <br />Bachelor's degree with coursework in recreation, or related field and considerable experience in youth/adult <br />recreational activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience. <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, equipment, tools and materials used in park maintenance and <br />construction; thorough knowledge of general building, equipment, repair and maintenance; thorough <br />knowledge of forestry, landscaping, and horticulture as applied to parks and grounds areas; thorough <br />knowledge of the grasses, flowers, shrubs and trees grown in the area, their planting time and their soil <br />requirements; thorough knowledge of hazards and necessary safety precautions involved in construction work; <br />ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates; ability to prepare reports; ability to prepare reports and <br />maintain records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS <br />This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 <br />pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, <br />using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, lifting and repetitive motions and <br />occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and pushing or pulling; work requires close <br />vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal <br />communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying <br />detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive <br />information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications <br />and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, <br />visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, <br />operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently <br />requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non- <br />weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or <br />caustic chemicals and exposure to blood-borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal <br />protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). <br /> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />CPR/First Aid Certification. <br />Valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License.
