These open space types may be <br />Public or Private Common Open Spaces. The following section provides a description of these open space <br />types including the design context and criteria consistent with the Vision for TRC Neighborhoods. <br /> <br />1. Public Open/Civic Space Types <br /> <br />(a) Pocket Park Standards <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Pocket Parks are small scale public open spaces intended to provide <br />recreational opportunities where (publicly accessible/park) space is <br />limited. They are often located between buildings and developments; <br />on single vacant lots; and on small irregular pieces of land. Low <br />maintenance landscaping and facilities is recommended in order to <br />support multiple pocket parks in a park system. <br /> <br />Development may include pavilions, picnic tables, small performance <br />stage, seating areas, gathering areas, family play areas, gazebos, <br />small game areas, small community gardens, dog parks, and interactive <br />art. Shade and lighting is desired. <br /> <br />Typical Characteristics <br />General Character <br />Small open space responding to specific <br />user groups and space available. <br /> <br />Range of character can be for intense use <br />or aesthetic enjoyment. Low maintenance <br />is essential. <br /> <br />Location and Size <br />0.25 – 1.99 acres <br />Within walking distance of either a few <br />blocks or up to a ¼ mile of residences <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Typical Uses <br />Varies per user group
