CONSENT ITEM – 5I MEMORANDUM DATE: February 23, 2015 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Patrick Klaers, City Administrator FROM: Sue Iverson, Director of Finance and Administrative Services SUBJECT: Appointment of Finance Analyst Background At the December 15, 2015, City Council Work Session, the City Council was informed that the Finance Analyst had resigned effective January 2, 2015, and that this position needed to be advertised and filled. Council consensus was to have the Personnel Committee review this position. On December 29, 2014, the Personnel Committee met by email to discuss the position . As a result of that meeting, the Personnel Committee approved advertising for the position with revised duties (supervisory r esponsibility) and reclassification from Grade 7 to Grade 8 consistent with the preliminary information in the Position Classification and Compensation Study that is currently being completed by Springsted. Discussion In total, the City received 17 applications for the Finance Analyst position. The Director of Finance and Administrative Services, the City Clerk, the City Administrator, and the Finance Director from the City of Mounds View interviewed five of those applicants. The top candidate is David Perrault. David’s application materials are attached. Criminal background checks have been submitted and received from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office. Staff Recommendation 1. The Personnel Committee recommends approval of the Finance Analyst job description as presented. 2. Staff recommends appointing David Perrault to the position of Finance Analyst for the City of Arden Hills at Pay Grade 8, Step 1, contingent upon satisfactory reference checks.
