ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL – MARCH 9, 2015 4 <br /> <br />education, regulatory ordinances, and physical structures constructed as a part of the storm water <br />sewer system. Each control measure includes several Best Management Practices (BMPs) that <br />will be used to accomplish the measure and each will include measurable goals that can establish <br />the effectiveness of the SWPPP. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Anderson reported that one of the permit requirements is that the City <br />must hold an annual public meeting to allow interested parties to provide comments to the City on <br />its SWPPP. The City is also required to submit an annual report to the MPCA documenting the <br />accomplishments of the previous year. He provided a presentation highlighting accomplishments <br />of 2014 and the goals for 2015. He asked for questions or comments from the Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant questioned how often the City’s grit chambers were inspected. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Anderson noted that the City’s 10 grit chambers were inspected <br />annually. <br /> <br />Councilmember Woodburn expressed concern with the discharge from the holding pond near <br />Ingerson Road reaching the lake. He commented on the appearance of the Arden Plaza drainage <br />pond. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant requested that staff follow-up with Councilmember Woodburn on these matters. <br /> <br />Councilmember McClung was pleased with the number of residents who were willing to host a <br />rain garden in their yard. He indicated that these stormwater treatment basins benefited the City <br />greatly. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Anderson provided further comment on how rain gardens were <br />improving the City’s stormwater management system, while also improving the clarity of the <br />City’s lakes. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant opened the public hearing at 7:58 p.m. <br /> <br />With no one coming forward to speak, Mayor Grant closed the public hearing at 7:59 p.m. <br /> <br />9. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember McClung commented that the Ramsey County Friends of the Park annual tree <br />sale was going on now through April 17th. He encouraged residents to participate in this event. <br />He noted that information was available on the City’s website.
