In April of 2013, Ramsey <br />County purchased 427 acres of the TCAAP site from the General Services <br />Administration (GSA) for redevelopment.The City, in cooperation with a private <br />developer, is currently in the process of purchasing 585 acres of the TCAAP property <br />along the property’s western border for redevelopment. <br /> <br />5.1.1 Ramsey County Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Rice Creek traverses the northwestern corner of the former TCAAP property and <br />is an important animal habitat and recreation area. Approximately 112 113 acres <br />adjacent to the creek were transferred to Ramsey County in 2006 for the <br />development of the Rice Creek North Regional Trail their park and recreation <br />system (Figure 5.2). The County anticipates completion of a trail adjacent to the <br />Rice Creek in the summer of 2008. Ramsey County is currently working with the <br />GSA to have an additional 108 acres of land transferred for the purpose of <br />expanding the Rice Creek trail corridor. <br /> <br />Ramsey County Parks and Recreation also owns a parcel that is approximately <br />7.25 acres in size parcel adjacent to Lexington Avenue near the Marsden Lake <br />and wetland complex.
