r <br /> • CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: April 6,2001 <br /> TO: Mayor and City Councilmembers and City Staff <br /> FROM: Joe Lynch, City Administrator <br /> SUBJECT: City Hall Project,Audio Visual(AV) Bids <br /> Background <br /> Electronic Interiors was hired to work with the City of Arden Hills to determine the right type, <br /> amount and layout of audio visual equipment and components to make the City Council <br /> chambers and City meetings a place and time where all participants could view, hear and <br /> understand any presentation or information important to them,their neighborhood or the City. <br /> Electronic Interiors was authorized to put together a bid packet, advertise for bid and make a <br /> recommendation to the City on hiring an AV contractor to install, warranty and train City staff <br /> on the AV components in the Council Chambers. <br /> • On Wednesday, April 4,2001, Electronic Interiors held a bid opening at their company. The <br /> three low bidders were Dascom, Impulse Group, and MidCo Audio Visual. <br /> The apparent low bidder was Dascom for a total construction cost of$139,916.85. The budget <br /> for the AV system is $180,000. The apparent low bid is $40,083.15 under our budgeted amount. <br /> Enclosed is a letter from David Skoog of Electronic Interiors, Inc., indicating that the bid from <br /> Dascom meets the specifications for the contract. <br /> Recommendation <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council award the bid for the construction of the Arden Hills <br /> Council Chambers technical media systems equipment and installation to Dascom Systems <br /> Group of Woodbury, MN in an amount not to exceed $139,916.85, and authorize the City <br /> Administrator to execute all necessary documents and contracts to proceed with construction. <br /> Enclosures <br /> • <br />
