t
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MEMORANDUM
DATE: May 9,2001
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Joe Lynch, City Administrator
SUBJECT: Summer Hours
Request
Staff would request that the City Council again consider a change in the normal workday
hours for City Hall and maintenance staff during the summer from Monday, June 4, 2001
through Friday,August 31, 2001.
As in past years, this requested change for work hours at City Hall would be Monday
through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. —5:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. For Public
Works and Parks maintenance, the change would be Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m.
—4:30 p.m.; and Friday, 7:00 a.m. — 11:00 a.m.
The week of July 2—6,2001 would be an exception due to the fact that Wednesday, July
4`h is an eight(8)hour holiday. Friday, July 6', all employees would need to work one
additional hour. Therefore, hours of operation on Friday, July 6'would 8:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m. for City Hall staff, and 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for maintenance employees.
Recommendation
Staff recommends the Council authorize the implementation of a change in the normal
workday for the City for the time period of June 4 through August 31, 2001.
The new Union Contract specifies that the City can change the hours of operation, and
does not require an addendum to the contract as in years past.
