JA's ready made instructional packets <br /> work extremely well with tapping the expertise of business leaders in an <br /> educational setting for students of all ages. <br /> 19) Business Matters. <br /> A section of the Mayor's monthly newsletter should be directed toward business <br /> issues in the community. We would title the column "Business Matter." The <br /> double entendre aspect of the title is purposely selected. With topics ghost <br /> written by economic development staff, the Mayor can focus on issues relating to <br /> the business community in her newsletter each month. <br /> Business Attraction <br /> Business attraction focuses on identifying companies from outside the area and enticing <br /> them to expand or relocate into a community. The goal is simple and straightforward; to <br /> secure new jobs and investment that off sets business closures. It is glamorous work, <br /> frequently commanding the most recognition of economic development efforts in the <br /> media. However, it is extremely expensive and it offers relatively low return on the <br /> economic development dollar.
