ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION-DECEMBER 21, 2009 14 <br /> 0 1 C. Recreation Fee Assistance Program <br /> Recreation Manager Olson explained they were not widely publicized and the <br /> funds were limited. If a resident were to call in and ask, they were directed to her. <br /> Councilmember Grant stated he was in favor of the $40 cap. <br /> Mayor Harpstead requested staff provide an Admin. Update on the recreation <br /> program numbers. <br /> Council directed staff to bring this item forward on the Consent Agenda at a future <br /> meeting. <br /> D. Celebrating Arden Hills <br /> Recreation Manager Olson presented the City Council with information on <br /> Celebrating Arden Hills. She indicated the committee would like to begin booking <br /> vendors for the event and that this could not be done until 2010. The Committee <br /> was hoping to hold the event at Perry or Cummings Park, but that the event would <br /> probably be held at Tony Schmidt Park to allow for the fireworks display. <br /> Recreation Manager Olson stated the event was scheduled for September 18cn <br /> She reported she has already permitted Tony Schmidt Regional Park and she would <br /> be speaking with Ramsey County about the event logistics in hopes of keeping the <br /> road open to the park. <br /> Councilmember Holden questioned if Presbyterian Homes would be a sponsor of <br /> the event. <br /> Recreation Manager Olson explained that Presbyterian Homes has provided <br /> snacks and beverages in the past for the tea and tent event. However, the City has <br /> not received a commitment yet to date, but that staff would be speaking with them <br /> about the event. <br /> Mayor Harpstead stated Bethel or Northwestern could be approached to provide <br /> busing to and from the event. <br /> Councilmember Holmes indicated the committee was trying to focus on more <br /> adult focused activities. <br /> Councilmember Grant suggested the band selections be rethought to focus on the <br /> adults. <br />
