i
T
O
W
CN
R
I
E
R
( 1)
•
do so until superseded
,County Sheriff seems t
*
Published by the Arden Association
No. 115
February 1978
There is now a new telephone number for Arden Hills'
residents to call for police or ambulance service.
Please memorize it:
POLICE OR AMBULANCE 484-3366
This is the number of the Ramsey County Sheriff's
Office which, as of January 16, is responsible for
police protection in Arden Hills. If you need to
call, don't be put off by the dispassionate voice
that answers, "Sheriff radio." Help will be avail-
able when you explain your problem.
All of our former regular police officers have
transferred to the employ of Ramsey County with no
decrease in salary. Currently, all are patrolling
in Arden Hills, although to insure complete coverage,
we may have an unfamiliar patrolman on occasion.
Since the squad cars are replaced each year, ours
still say "Arden Hills" on them, and may continue to
by new ones. The transition from our own Police Department to Ramsey
o be going smoothly.
It is with deep sadness that we mark the death of J. Pat Sexton, former Arden Hills Police
Chief, who died in January. Our heartfelt sympathy to his family.
Public apologies are in order for the 313 of you who received your Town Criers late last
Both sets of
month and to the 32 who did not receive a Human Rights brochure with your Crier.
printers delivered short. The Human Rights flyer was mainly an announcement that there is
indeed an Arden Hills Human Rights Commission, and just call the Village Hall (633-5676) if you
have any questions or problems in this -area.
g and Jim McAllister who came to the
Public praise and thanks are in order to Jean Lember
,Village Hell on December 28 and volunteered their time to help fold and staple the Human Rights
flyers inside the Town Criert. Jean worked all morning, and I know I wouldn't have finished by
the end of the year without her: Thankyouthankyouthankyou.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEVENT: The above experience with last month's inserts leads this editor
' to inform all Arden Hills groups that want to include anything with the Town Crier mailing
that they will have t o% 1) be sure there are enough flyers for the 1900 Zriers, or else the
'Post Office will not accept the bulk mailino, and 2) provide some hands to help fold, stuff,
and staple. The Parks and Recreation Department has obviously spoiled me; their flyers are
always in sufficient supply and their staff is always ready to help.
A donation of $750.00 has been received from Presbyterian Homes as an appreciation for
the Village Public Services. (Editor's notes I think it's really great that someone does this
without HAVING to. We're trying to teach our kids that an unasked for appreciative act is
much more meaningful than an expected one, and it's nice to see this idea carried out in public.
